In todays Morning Evening Star are a couple of letters about street lights.
First there is one by Nancy Bulworth titled Who is about after midnight? It says
WHAT a preposterous article on Rex Chittock and his campaign against the street light switch-off.
He quotes: “There are many people out and about after midnight.”
Really – who? If you haven’t got a car, call for a taxi cab. I’m nothing like as old as him and I wouldn’t dream of venturing home after midnight, depending only on a street lamp for sight and a feeling of security.
At age 79, what racy, reckless chums old Rexy must have. Rock on.
There’s also a letter by Ray Harvey titled Does side light law still apply? it says
I WELL remember in the past when street lights were switched off overnight.
Side lights on parked vehicles had to be left on. Either that or we had to display a battery-operated portable lamp.
Does this law still apply?
