With the Tesco workfare advert fiasco it was natural for the left to attack Tesco but as it has become apparent that it was Job Centre plus’s mistake the attacks have continued against Tesco. The reason is because those who may have been or are being exploited are not of any concern to those on the left.
Tesco is a private enterprise and the left hate private enterprise. The advertisement was wrong due to an error by Job Centre Plus. This has been established.
The left won’t attack Job Centre Plus for their error because those at Job Centre plus are public Sector Workers and members of trade unions who will defend their right to be incompetent.
At Ipswich Unemployed Action here it actually says
A DWP spokeswoman said: “As we made clear on Thursday, this role was incorrectly described and advertised by Jobcentre Plus; not by Tesco – there was no error whatsoever on their part.”
But the left will attack Tesco rather than incompetent, unionised public sector workers.
The advertisement which was erroneous shows the incompetantness of Job Centre staff. Those at Ipswich Unemployed Action know that Job Centre staff are completely incompetent but being left wing, they would rather attack a private company than attack people living off money from the government like themselves. Yes, Job Centre plus staff may get a lot more money than unemployed people but they are part of the socialist brotherhood.

The problem is of “workfare” (forced unpaid work) not who to blame of a “mistake” on a job advert.

Tesco were originally offering unpaid” work experience”in return for a interview(not an offer of a job)as part of workfare.due to the backlash and PR disaster they have since revised what they offer.with their original format 1400 took part with only 300 being taken on in employment.surely for every hour someone in tesco stacks a shelf unpaid that’s an hour less someone is being paid to do that.as for the attacks on workfare there seems to be some justification.the back to work tsar has had to step down because of her connection to A4e which is facing investigating for irregularities and exploiting the programme and unemployed people.
The problem with using private companies like A4e, is the more people they find work for, the less people are on their books.
