Two incidents over night in Ipswich

Police are appealing for information following two incidents overnight in Ipswich.

The first incident occurred last night, Friday 15 February in Roanoke Walk. At around 11pm the victim’s doorbell rang and he noticed a figure wearing a bobble hat at the door but did not answer it.

Ten minutes later the victim was upstairs when he heard a voice inside the property. He then saw a black male carrying what appeared to be a silver pipe, so he shouted at him and chased him from the house. The offender ran out via a rear door and was then seen running away with a man wearing a bobble hat and possibly another man.

The man wearing the bobble hat is described as around 6ft tall and of slim build.

The man inside the property is described as black, around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build and wearing a black woolly hat, a scarf covering the bottom half of his face, a black long sleeved puffa style jacket and dark jeans.

The second incident occurred at around 5am this morning, Saturday 16 February in Orford Street. An offender smashed a glass pane of the front door to a residential property, entered the property and made a search of a study before walking upstairs. He was then seen by one of the residents and chased out of the house.

A video camera, digital camera and a laptop were stolen from within.

The offender is described as a white man, between 5ft 9ins – 6ft tall, in his twenties or thirties, of medium build, with a well-defined straight nose and stubble. He was wearing a thick black woollen beanie hat, a shiny black waist length puffa style jacket and dark trousers.

Police are looking at the possibility that the two crimes are linked.
