Appeal After Robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Ipswich.

The incident happened in Lloyds Avenue earlier this morning, Friday 29 November, at approximately 4.30am.

An 18-year-old woman was walking up the road when a man began walking towards her from the opposite direction. As he approached her, he assaulted the victim and grabbed a mobile phone from her hand and an amount of money.

Shortly afterwards, a taxi driver drove after the offender but did not return to the area afterwards. Police are keen to speak with the taxi driver for information.

The victim sustained reddening to the face as a result of the incident.

The offender is described as a black man, approximately 5’2” tall, had very short black hair, was mid to late twenties in age and was wearing a black hooded top, dark coloured jeans and black trainers.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to call Ipswich Priority Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
