Vue has abandoned the Ipswich Buttermarket cinema plan. Vue has not given a reason why, but speaking to the BBC, Ipswich Labour council’s politburo holder for economic decline development has indicated a possible reason why.
Here Carole Jones the politburo holder for economic decline development says
“The conversion of the [Ipswich] building was really extensive and I think they just think ‘that looks expensive – we’ll just try a cheaper option’.
“These are private businesses who make decisions which are not always necessarily best for a town, but what is best for their profit margins.
Right there is an attack on the private sector indicating that Ipswich is not open for business.
For the politburo holder for economic decline development to say that also shows how anti business Labour are. They are against any investment in Ipswich.
She also said
It’s possibly something to do with the Odeon being sold to what we understand is a small cinema chain.”
That is because our incompetent Labour council doofed about and dilly dallied around instead of putting a bid in for the old Odeon themselves. It made sense to buy the Odean which is next door to the Regent which they already own, but Ipswich Labour would rather put Ipswich in debt by borrowing money for a pointless purchase of an old sugar beet factory outside the borough boundary.
Ipswich Labour’s economic incompetence is astounding.
