The Power and Politics of Punk and Pop

On Tuesday an article was published by Professor of Politics at the University of East Anglia, John Street, on the only blog that can rival this blog for the title of East Anglia’s Premier Political Blog.

The article is titled The Power and Politics of Punk and Pop. It can be read in full here.

Now being a punk at heart, instead of outright anarchy, I call for more freedom of the individual and less interference from the state.

Song titles like “I Wanna be Me by the Pistols are all about individuals wanting to be themselves and not conforming to the demands of those in authority as everyone has to in a socialist police state. But punk is not to be taken seriously. I love the Dead Kennedys and find their left wing lyrics hilarious, but most of all I do love this song!
