Suffolk Labour Silent about Ofsted Report

One sixth form college, formerly Suffolk One, was praised for helping students to make “exceptional progress” and achieve “outstanding” results following a major inspection by the education Ofsted.

James Cartlidge, MP for South Suffolk, the constituency the sixth form is based in, said it was fantastic news.

“I am absolutely delighted to hear this fantastic news for One – to go from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ is an incredible achievement and it shows that we are making progress in education in Suffolk,” he said. “I salute all the staff and pupils for their success.”

More here.

Mysteriously there has not been any comments by any local Labour councillors. This is very strange because they are always in such a hurry to talk about failing schools.

  1. Ben Redsell says:

Given “One” is in Babergh there are no local Labour councillors. As you know, the County & District Councillor is a Lib Dem, and the other District Councillor is a Tory.

  2. James Harding says:

Ben, Students who go to Suffolk One come from Ipswich and across this side of the county so this is very good news for Ipswich and Suffolk, If “One” had a bad report I suspect a lot of Labour councillors would have plenty to say. I believe Labour still have councillors in that district even though they don’t represent that area. I seem to remember Labour councillors having a right barmy when my school when down to the “Requires Improvement” status even though they didn’t represent the specific ward the Academy building is.
