Move over London and Berlin, hello Newcastle, Gothenburg and Ipswich

Not every European startup needs to be based in Silicon Valley-style cities such as London and Berlin. Others, such as ​UK ​games messaging company Palringo are happy to locate in more understated places says Monty Munford

The story began in 2006 in Newcastle when the company was set up by a 21-year-old Martin Rosinski who developed his first commercial software application when he was 11 and, as is the way, in his bedroom. The BT Research Lab near Ipswich was another area where talent could be acquired, hence the juxtaposition of the two cities in Palringo’s business.
