Book Review: Suffolk’s Best 100 Buildings

Suffolk’s Hundred Best Buildings has a list of 100 best buildings in Suffolk. It has categories and bits about them. The first section in the book is entrances, gateways and garden buildings it has the Abbey gateway in Bury and the gateway to Ewarton Hall in it along with Freston Tower but mysteriously Wolsey’s Gate hasn’t made the cut.

Then there is a section on defence which has a number of castles Martello Towers, Landguard Fort and Bawdsey Hall. Then there is a section on churches and disappointingly none of the churches in Ipswich apart from the Unitarian Meeting House are mentioned There is a section on buildings related to agriculture which consists of Mills and Barns the contribution from Ipswich is the Fellaw Maltings building

There is a section on early houses which has the likes of Helmingham Hall, Otley Hall and  Christchurch Mansion in it.

In the buildings of industry commerce and Civic buildings section is such buildings as the Old Customs House, the Willis Building, Endeavour House, The Mill and the Suffolk One building just outside the borough boundary.
