Conservative Candidate for Stoke Park, Ben Harvey has written a good report on the meeting concerning the police update and funding requests here
During the public questions the Labour councillors seemed to insinuate that the county council are to blame for the rise in council tax when in fact Ipswich Labour are to blame because though Ipswich Conservatives found the necessary savings to freeze council tax, Ipswich Labour voted against the alternative budget.
There was also some interesting participation by UKIP’s Alan Cotterell about parking around schools. He announced that the solution was to have schools allow cars on to their premises. County Councillor, Peter Gardiner said that the County Council would not allow cars on to school premises. Mr Cotterell responded by storming out. Obviously the Local Education Authority is not insured to allow cars on it’s premises and if a child or anybody got hit by a car on LEA premises the authority would be liable.
