Farewell to David Cameron, the best prime minister this country has had since 1997. He brilliantly took the Conservative party away from knee jerk, right wing reactionary politics, back to the mainstream of sensible, one nation conservatism. By winning two general elections and two referenda, he is the most successful party leader since Margaret Thatcher. He has left the country with a bright future and an optimism that wasn’t there in 2010. His failures are few. He will not be remembered for losing the EU referendum, but rather, being the Prime Minister that at long last, gave the British people the choice.
David Cameron brought about the biggest historical shift in our relationship with Europe since Henry VIII broke with Rome and now we say farewell to him as we embark on entering our second golden age.
