South West Area Committee Report

Unfortunately I’ve lost all the notes I made of the thing so I am having to do it from memory. First off all was the Police Update. One of their priorities is Alderman Park. A member of the public mentioned their concern about things happening in Gyppeswyk Park. There was other things brought up but as they were not in Gipping Ward, I wasn’t interested enough in them to remember.

After this there was an update in regard to the Upper Orwell Crossing which is a fantastic £80 million investment in Ipswich thanks to Ben Gummer and something Ipswich Labour are upset about because they can’t stop it. Here is the project’s website.

After this there was an interesting presentation by Urban Buzz which is a project to increase biodiversity in Ipswich. Here is the website.

Then there was the Ward Councillor’s Feedback and Suffolk the County Councillors Update. There was something about the concern of residents about the Number 14 Bus stopping. There was other things brought up but as they were not in Gipping Ward, I wasn’t interested enough in them to remember. This lead us nicely into the next item on the agenda. Responses to Public Questions Received and Open Discussion on Local Issues. Naturally they were more questions concerning the number 14. This lead to them talking about certain routes being stopped due to cost cutting by Ipswich Busses who are lead by former Labour MP and Transport Minister, Chris Mole. But naturally none of the Labour councillors mentioned who was responsible and blamed the Tories instead. They insisted that they were not going to leave elderly people in The Flowers cut off from the rest of the town.

After this there was a funding request from Actilives. Website here

After this there was a funding request from Lofty Heights. A most worthy charity with a good presentation which had everyone wondering why they only put in a request for £1,260. Website here.
