State Duties Citzens Fair

Ipswich Town Hall

For 150 years they have gazed o’re
Guarding the present,
Reminding of the days of yore
Over the square pleasant.

Below the Ship held by the lion
Neptune’s horses hold
There looks the English lion
By forecastle’s of gold.

Of commerce and agriculture
Our heritge speaks out,
Justice and law and order
Gives a shout.

He gave us the charter
There is King John,
With the cardinal and his brother
Over us they look on

Guarding like sentinels,
The soldiers faithful, true and bold
To a noble death terrible,
Fought as the saints who nobly fought of old
Noble army of martyrs
Who won with them the victors crown of gold
Praise, thee Alleluia.
