Latest on Friston Substation Proposal

Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Coastal and Waveney district councils support the electric substation being built on the Broom Covert site, between Leiston and Sizewell rather than the Friston site as the lesser of two evils.

The councils’ joint statement has been issued in response to a consultation over plans to use either Grove Wood, north of Friston, or Broom Covert, in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, for the substation.

The consultation ended yesterday, November 12.

There is a group who are angry about the support for the site by Sizewell called SOS Save Our Sandlings, but I believe that it is better than putting thirty foot wide trenches across six miles of the Sandlings AONB for a start. But the campaigners are shocked that ‘eco-friendly’ wind energy could cause such environmental destruction.  But that’s just what we know about because we don’t know what effect it has on the marine evironment. ‘Green technology is environment hostile.
