Many continue working despite not being paid as they’d become illegal immigrants if they leave. Some are even being dumped by their employers outside their embassies without their passports or any means to get home. The situation is dire.
Freedom United are writing a letter to the Lebonese Ministry of Labour calling on them to ensure migrant domestic workers’ immigration status is not tied to their employers and their rights are protected. One can add their signiture to the letter here.
