A new report just published shows that child labour has risen for the first time in 20 years, with 160 million children now affected worldwide.
This means that today, 1 in 10 children in the world are experiencing child labour.
This is really alarming considering that child labour numbers shrank by 94 million between 2000 and 2016, due to dedicated anti-slavery efforts.
The report also warns that the economic fallout of the coronavirus crisis risks worsening the situation. And if urgent action isn’t taken, 46 million more children could be pushed towards the same fate by the end of 2022.
