Labour Candidate for North Ipswich and Central Suffolk suspended.

Kevin Craig has been suspended by the Labour party after the Gambling Commission launched an investigation into him. Sky News’ chief political correspondent Jon Craig understands the bet was relating to the outcome of the vote in his constituency.

A Labour spokesperson confirmed the suspension, saying: “With Keir Starmer as leader, the Labour Party upholds the highest standards for our parliamentary candidates, as the public rightly expects from any party hoping to serve, which is why we have acted immediately in this case.”

The problem with this is that it is to late for Labour to react as they have reacted because Kevin Craig is the official Labour candidate and is on the ballot paper as the Labour candidate.

This means that Labour have a candidate in Suffolk being investigated by the gambling commision. It sounds like the Labour party has a candidate vetting process as lousy as Reform UK does. But  his business, PLMR Genesis, employs Ipswich Labour candidate, Jack Abbott, so he’s well known amongst the comrades of the local Labour Party and good socialist pedigree is what is important to the Labour party however much a scoundrel someone is and after, all Labour are all scoundrels anyway.

This aged well

Interestingly Kevin Craig’s agent is Carrot Road season ticket holder, John Cook who with fellow Ipswich Labour councillor, Bryony Rudkin arranged for Kevin Craig’s employee Jack Abbott to be their candidate in Ipswich.

Also, interestingly PLMR Geneisis held a conference earlier this year which Rachel Reeves also attended. PLMR has a head office in Westminster and regional offices in Ipswich, Birmingham, Coventry and Glasgow. You can read the story here on the company website. (unless they take it down to cover up how much their ‘suspended’ candidate is known and respected within Labour party circles.)

There’s also more. How the Labour Party claim the Conservatives have big donors while having big donors themselves has been revealed.

And there’s still more. Kevin Craig has issued a statement on Twitter.

This demands a response and such a response has come from Conservative Councillor Sam Murray.

Quite!

Patrick Spencer for North Ipswich and Mid Suffolk.
