Vote Tim Passmore

Tim Passmore says,

If re-elected as Suffolk’s PCC, I will do the best I can to tackle rural crime and protect our heritage.

I’ll collaborate closely with law enforcement, communities, and experts to implement effective strategies. By ensuring swift firearms licensing and promoting accountability, we’ll keep our rural areas safe.

Let’s work together for a safer Suffolk!

I was delighted to be part of the launch event for The University of Suffolk Civic Agreement held at The Hold earlier this week.

As PCC, I’ve had a longstanding and incredibly valuable relationship with Suffolk University. They’ve conducted numerous pieces of academic research for us over the years.

One of the most significant projects was on the perceptions of the criminal justice system among victims of domestic abuse and violence. Led by Professor Emma Bond, it was both qualitative and quantitative, making it the largest research of its kind ever conducted in the United Kingdom. This formed the cornerstone of our efforts to prevent domestic abuse and support victims.

Suffolk University has also delved into other critical areas such as gang culture, the illegal drugs trade, and campaigns to improve online safety; shedding light on important socio-economic factors influencing crime levels. I was particularly impressed by the Economic Impact Assessment delivered by the University of Suffolk, their contribution to the county’s economy is immense – a staggering £332m GVA and 2740 jobs.

I’m eagerly anticipating the further development of this crucial relationship. The collaboration between the University and numerous other organisations is truly remarkable.

The panel discussion, featuring members from Tech East, Ipswich Town Football Club, Ipswich Borough Council, Healthwatch Suffolk, and Birketts LLP, was a highlight of the evening. Mark Glenn Murphy Mbe did an exceptional job hosting, making it a truly memorable event!

On Tuesday, The EADT released a headline stating that the Suffolk Police Control room was the fifth lowest in the country.

However, it’s important to note that this statement is outdated.

The latest figures show a significant improvement, with call response times now averaging just 9.5 seconds compared to the previous 19.6 seconds average. Thanks to a recent investment, we are now ranked seventh highest performing nationwide.

This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our police force in Suffolk. As your Police Crime Commissioner, I am committed to ensuring that our control room continues to provide efficient and effective service to our community.

By investing in technology, training, and resources, we will further enhance our emergency response capabilities and uphold public safety across Suffolk.
