Ellesmere’s Latest waffle

In todays Morning Ipswich Star the politburo general secretary for the Soviet Republic of Ipswich says that Labour are rebuilding Ipswich. He goes on about how Ipswich Labour are building council houses.

What got my attention was this.

Reforms to the system – started under the last Labour Government and thankfully carried on by the Coalition Government – mean that each council area now runs as a separate “business”, so we don’t have to pay money to the Government any more.

Labour did not reform the system. In fact they not only didn’t allow councils to build council houses, they raided local council tax revenues leaving no money for councils to do so anyway.

So far they have built eight council houses in Ipswich. Last winter the night shelter provided beds for at least for 33 people and David Ellesmere goes on about eight new council houses being built as if it solves the problem of homelessness in Ipswich.
